I can’t make light of it…. I really can’t even comment on it. I’m totally torn up about this. It was bad enough that she’s been prosecuted for this crap — it was a totally political prosecution, of course. Now, they’ve basically hounded her and one of her girls into suicide…. I’m speechless, yet I’ve GOT to say something. I’ll say more later, after I’ve collected my thoughts.
I’m headed for Dallas on Sunday for a couple of days with a client there. Hopefully, I’ll have my head screwed on straight by then.
OK this is going to sound lousy . But if you can’t do the time don’t do the crime. I was reading about her and her one earlier time in jail obviously messed with her. So she should have avoided something like this. Her other mistake was thinking that because she was close to power she was powerful herself . She wasn’t. She was and did get thrown under the bus just like most people.
In the middle ages, a woman who became a cortesan to a man in power recognized that she might get thrown to the dogs on a whim. Sadly, we don’t seem to have grown much in that regard.
True. It is why despite all the rumors and stuff there are actually very few women who sleep their way to the top.
Elliot Spitzer was able to go back to his wife. Same with Clinton. The women who they had where left out to dry.
I find this kind of frustrating in that while this may in some ways be perceived as a victim less crime. There are a large number of women who maybe victims in this. Or at least aren’t compensated as they should since they do the work and take the risks. I think Mr. Spitzers courtesan got roughly 50% of the take. But most professional organizations will allocate say 60-70 of their revenue for their employees.

No question that in today’s society, most of the girls who end up in prostitution are victims. I won’t argue a bit. The prosecution of these girls only adds insult to injury.

The ironic thing about Spitzer at least was that when he was DA he did make an effort to go after Johns and Pimps etc.
The bad thing about the Spitzer case is that people will hear about the money she was getting and think see not so bad. But again she was only got half the take and there are a lot of others who make far less are abused etc. And even while she was not perhaps a victim in the classic sense she certainly did not want to do this as say a first choice.
